Description

Chromium is a very hard and shiny silvery metal and has many colourful compounds. A lot of these are quite toxic. Chromium(VI), e.g. as CrO2, is a very dangerous environmental toxin. Elemental chromium is widely used for planting for optical reasons and corrosion protection. Chromium is added to steel to make it stainless.
